  • Kitchen Renos: Budget Friendly Methods

Everyone dreads kitchen renovations! It can be exciting yet frustrating while living without the necessities that you've grown accustomed to in your kitchen such as running water, countertops and a stove. Sometimes a major kitchen renovation doesn't have to be all that.

If you do some research, you can find several ways to keep the costs in check. Many people think that they have to replace their cupboards entirely while this is not always required. Sometimes you may already have solid cupboards in your kitchen that very few market products could compete with. It may just be the color that is stuck in the 90's. One great solution that has came into the market at Home Depot is Rust-oleum Cabinet Transformations. This is a cost efficient method of transforming your cupboards by painting but without having to sand them & with limited inconvenience to your home.

Some other ways to save on your budget, if you find ones you like, to purchase your accessories such as handles or knobs in packages not individually. This can save you a substantial amount of money. The only downfall would be that there is a limited variety of styles available in "bulk".

Kitchen countertops! They can be the entire budget if you want it to be but it doesn't have to. For a quick fix, you can also try the product from Rust-oleum that is made for countertops. If you'd like to completely start from scratch, there are a variety of products on the market from laminate to butcher block to granite, all varying in price. Consumer's Reports has a good article (from a few years back) that compares the different options so you can see what would work best for you.

Sometimes it takes doing your homework in order to reduce your renovating costs but if you are talking thousands of dollars, it can definitely be worth putting the time into. A kitchen can help sell a home so it is worth looking into all the options out there.
